5 Things to do at Singapore Design Week

The annual Singapore Design Week is here again! Held from 4 to 17 March 2019, it brings together a collection of local and international design activities in Singapore. Through the use of design, business and public policy, Singapore Design Week aims to bring about innovation and solutions to build businesses, engage communities and enrich people’s lives.  

Here are the things which you can do during the Singapore Design Week:

 

1. Minimalism: Space. Light. Object Exhibition

Minimalism: Space. Light. Object will allow you to see more through less and gain new perspectives. This exhibition showcases more than 130 artworks about the origins of minimalism and how it has changed over time.

2. Project 210

When you first enter the room, you would see bright and vibrant colours which was inspired by Tyler, the Creator. The design of the room would tell you the story of transition, growth and change.

There will be pop-up room every quarter, providing you with a new experience on your next visit. This styling and décor are entirely dependent on the local interior design students.

3. WALLPAPER* HANDMADE 2019

Wallpaper* is an annual show which displays the best pieces of local and international designers. With this year theme as “everyday objects reimagined”, it is a display of artsy inventions.

Date: 07 March – 10 June 2019, Thursday - Monday
Time: 10:00 – 19:00
Venue: National Museum of Singapore, Concourse (Level 1)

4. SingaPlural - VR art installation

This year SingaPlural draws on evolution in nature to inspire innovation in design, with the theme of “Unnatural Phenomena”.  This theme explores the origins and evolutions of novel new design species. This year, installations includes the best design like Autumn and A Portraiture of Facets.

This exhibition displays the different hues and shades used. Through VR goggles, users can immerse themselves in the exhibition, as though walking through a park in autumn.

5. Designer Collaboration Products at Suntec City

Introducing the Nest collection, a collection created by the budding designers of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in collaboration with Scanteak. It aims to solve the challenge of shrinking home spaces by providing multifunctional solutions to modern living.

This collection has been awarded the Singapore Good Design Mark (SG Mark) 2019, which signifies a benchmark of good design and quality.
