A circuit break – but we’re still here for you

Update as of 5 April 2020, 1.15pm:

In view of updates to government restrictions to the fulfillment of orders of non-essential businesses, we are able to cater to urgent deliveries for as long as we are able to, subject to government regulations. New regulations are updated every day for furniture and household items, which, undeniably, will affect deliveries for customers for us and other retail brands.

We apologize for the multiple updates, which undoubtedly have caused frustration to some of our customers. We would like to assure all our customers that we will continue to fulfill orders to the best of our ability for as long as we are allowed to, and humbly seek your patience and understanding during this time.

Ultimately, we would like to remind our friends and customers that it is in everyone's best interests that we, as retailers, practice social responsibility and adhere to government advisories. This is to protect the safety of not only our staff, but of our customers and their families as well.

We will continue to monitor the situation, and provide updates via this page whenever such updates are available.

Dear Friends and Valued Customers,

I hope that you and your loved ones are well.

It’s an uncertain time for the community, and many of you must feel anxious, maybe even stressed out, by the many changes that we’ve had to cope with as a nation these past few weeks. But seeing Singapore come together to fight this pandemic has touched many hearts, and I want to take this opportunity to share with you what Scanteak has done, and what we’ll continue doing to support our customers and staff.

At Scanteak, our top priority is keeping our employees and customers safe whilst doing whatever is reasonable to keep operations running. Since February, we have taken steps to ensure that there have been as little disruptions to your shopping experience as possible.

Things are changing. Given the recent developments on 3 April 2020, some of these measures will have to be enhanced, for the safety of our community.

Our showrooms will remain open till 6 April 2020, and as we have since February, our increased cleaning regiments continue. We have placed more hand sanitizers in our stores for you as well as our staff to use, and we are continuing with crowd control and safe distancing measures at our showrooms to reduce unnecessary contact. Following which, we will be observing a short (circuit) break for a month, in accordance with Government advisories.

Our Easter sale event operates on a reservation basis, to avoid overcrowding at any of our showrooms. With regret, this event will have to be cut short, ending on 6 April instead of 12 April. Customers who have made reservations for dates after 6 April have been contacted, and our sales staff have extended their assistance accordingly.

Should you need to postpone your delivery (due to delays in renovation caused by movement restrictions in the region), please feel free to chat with us on our Live Chat, and we'll make the necessary arrangements. Extended storage charges will be waived during this time as well.

Online shopping is still available if you’d still like to shop from the comfort of your home. However, due to the current restrictions, we're afraid that deliveries for new orders as of 4 April will have to be delayed slightly.

Urgent orders will still be fulfilled as promised. Our warehouse and delivery teams are placed on staggered work shifts, to ensure that urgent orders are still being fulfilled in a timely manner. For non-urgent orders, we would appreciate it greatly if we are allowed to postpone deliveries to 5 May 2020, or later.

Office staff are equipped to work from home, so we are still able to tend to your queries and support service requests, as much as we are able to cater to. We’re also extending as much support as possible to our staff who are affected by the MCO in Malaysia, with emphasis on retaining their jobs.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this situation may cause, and it is my sincerest hope that we can resume operations as usual, as soon as possible.

For now, on behalf of the staff and management of Scanteak, our prayers are with all who have been impacted by this outbreak. We salute our frontline healthcare heroes who have been working tirelessly to help contain this situation, and even you – who have been staying home to minimize the further spread of this pandemic.

We encourage everyone to stay positive, and treat this as an opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones at home. Please continue to keep yourselves and your families safe; and we look forward to emerging from this as a stronger, united community.

Here’s to feeling at home.

Best regards,

Jamie Lim
